Workforce development is the cornerstone of any impactful economic development effort. Together, they form the foundation for a prosperous community. That’s why WorkForce Central partners with economic development organizations and efforts across Pierce County to grow industries by connecting the dots between employers, job seekers, training programs and workforce data.
Individual businesses benefit by partnering with economic development organizations as well. The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber, Economic Development Board and other agencies offer assistance and support for businesses interested in expanding here. WorkForce Central currently staffs two industry skill panels. These panels are made up of professionals in both the public and private sectors of business, labor and education. Panel members collaborate to build strategies for improving the skills of workers in their industry and advise on how the workforce system can better meet industry needs.
The current panels include:
- Pierce County Health Careers Council (Health Care)
