TACOMA, WA – Two WorkSource locations became one in Central Tacoma in December, and in April we celebrated with a grand opening at the new, 20,000 square foot center.

Nearly 250 people came by our new digs at 2121 S. State St. on April 10 to learn about the WorkSource center and get a tour, including Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier, Pierce County Council Member Doug Richardson, Tacoma City Council Member Conor McCarthy, Pierce County Workforce Development Council Chair April Gibson, and Employment Security Department Commissioner Suzi LeVine.

The new WorkSource center has brought together seven of Pierce County’s workforce partners into a single location to provide better and more efficient service for our customers. Each month, the center serves an average of 2,300 customers, and it’s meeting the needs of businesses as well as job seekers: At a MultiCare hiring event at the center in February, 400 job seekers attended and 120 were offered jobs on the spot.

See photos from the WorkSource grand opening below. Special thanks to Chad Pearson from ESD for capturing some great moments!

WorkForce Central strengthens the Pierce County economy by identifying skill gaps between jobseekers and employment opportunities, fostering data-driven decision making, and connecting workforce development partners into a cohesive, collaborative and effective network.
