Emahni W.

Emahni, 22, was able to utilize the Hire Pierce County Next Gen internship program to gain valuable work experience that directly coincided with their schooling.

They are currently going to school to be an auto technician and, through the Next Gen program, worked for U.S. Fire Equipment.

“I was able to gain experience by doing wiring, breaks, replacing engines, and things like that,” Emahni said.  “I got mentored and was able to learn by doing hands-on work.

Emahni also utilized other support services and got assistance with gas cards to get to and from work.

“This program helped with my goal of finishing school and eventually joining the Air Force to do cyber security,” they said.
