Edwin O.

“My biggest barrier was my English,” said Edwin O. “I struggled with finding a job or getting through an interview due to my language barrier but knew I could do the work if I could get a chance.”

Edwin connected with the Hire Pierce County: Next Gen program, where he worked as an intern for RAIN Incubator.

“I think the best thing I got out of the program is myself,” Edwin said. “I gained self-confidence and found who I am.”

While Edwin has a goal of going to college for Computer Science, he said he is most thankful that he was hired on permanently by Rain Incubator. He’s currently working as the Outreach Assistant and helping run the new Waterversity training program.

“Another great thing I am thankful for is that RAIN has placed me under another Spanish-speaking person who has really helped me with my English and pushes me to write professional emails and have conversations in English,’ Edwin said. “This has greatly helped me. Thank you, Hire Pierce County, for helping me help myself.”
