Kris W.

Kris is singing the praises of her WorkSource Pierce Career TEAM service representative after they helped her change her career trajectory from working in a retail grocery store to starting a new reception position with an air filtration company. The job change gave Kris $3 more per hour and more hours per week.

If it were not for her WorkSource career advisor helping set up the conference call with her, Kris said she would not be able to spend the rest of her working years in an office setting.

“I am grateful,” she said. Simply by her career advisor having her set up an Indeed account and complete a resume, Kris can look positively at the next years going forward.

Although she did not have the computer skills for the job, when Kris interviewed with the owner, she articulated that she was trainable.

“I could learn the computer system if given the chance,” Kris said. “She liked that I had most of my career in customer service and that I was willing to learn their system. It couldn’t have gone any better.”

Of course, there was the initial adjustment, she said. “I had to learn the computer aspect of the job, and I was extremely apprehensive as I had never done anything other than operate a point-of-sale system. I also had to adjust to working five days a week. However, those adjustments only lasted a few weeks, and I learned the computer system fairly quickly. I am just so happy.”
