TACOMA, WA – Trends in Pierce County’s workforce, key occupations with shortages, and supply and demand in the top six employment sectors will be part of a WorkForce Central report to the Pierce County Council on October 11.
WorkForce Central is releasing the data from its recent studies as part of Workforce Development Week, focused on Industry Sector Strategies from around the nation. These strategies are partnerships between education, business, government, nonprofit and other segments of the community to develop industry-specific, responsive programs that train workers in line with hiring needs.
WorkForce Central uses data and analytics to develop sector strategies across key areas in the Pierce County economy. Over the summer, WorkForce Central commissioned studies on workforce supply and demand in Pierce County’s top six employment sectors through 2023. Findings from the report highlight key occupations with shortages, identify overall trends for the local workforce and recommend ideas on how to address specific concerns.
“In order to make sound policy and investment decisions, we need reliable data,” said Linda Nguyen, CEO of WorkForce Central. “As we continue to work closely with our many partners to address workforce development opportunities and challenges, these studies will provide a foundation from which strategic and collaborative action will be taken.”
The reports will be released on October 11th in conjunction with a presentation to the Economic Development Committee of the Pierce County Council. Media is invited to attend the discussion.
