Lens of Equity Summit to Have Key Conversations Around Equity Work

Tacoma, WA: The Pierce County Community Engagement Task Force, powered by WorkForce Central, is excited for the upcoming Lens of Equity Summit on May 18 at the McGavick Conference Center at Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood.

The summit is a continuation of our 2021 Lens of Equity Mini-Series, a four-part virtual series focusing on four components of an equitable organization: People, Policy, Practice, and Promotion. The series covered how promoting Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion (DEAI) in an organization can serve the community, increase access, and foster growth.

The all-day summit will be attended by more than 250 community leaders and members from all over Pierce County and will feature panels and workshops on various topics, including Transparently Removing Barriers and Creating Opportunity within Apprenticeships; How to Build a Safe, Welcoming & Inclusive Workplace Culture; Why Supportive Transition from the Criminal Legal System Matters; and more.

“To ensure that our systems are equitable and accessible, we need to hold each other accountable and ensure that those with the power to change those systems are held accountable as well,” said Tamar Jackson, Senior Director of Community Engagement for WorkForce Central. “The Lens of Equity Summit provides a space for these conversations. It is a moment for learning and growth, and an opportunity to adopt tangible and actionable steps to truly effect change.”

A special thanks to our Leader Tier sponsors Clover Park Technical College, for providing the space for this event, and Zeta-Maya Entertainment, who will be capturing all of these important conversations.

The event is sold out; however, the media is invited to attend. For press inquiries, see below. And to learn more about the Lens of Equity Summit see the event page.
