Justin O.

Justin came into the WorkSource Pierce One-Stop Center looking for opportunities to better his living situation. He was working, but it was in a kitchen with pay just above minimum wage with no benefits. While job searching, he experienced rejection from employers because of his background. This was hard for Justin to experience and rebound from.

After he explained this situation to a WorkSource career advisor, they sat down with him to start forming a plan to find a quality, living-wage job. He created an account on worksourcewa.com and completed his profile. He then took an assessment to find out what kind of work would be a good match.

As they began his job search, his WorkSource advisor from ESD’s Business Services Team, Luis, thought of Frontier Door and Cabinet, a business he had been working with that needed quality workers.

Luis connected Justin with a representative at the company. They interviewed him over the phone and offered him a job to start that day! When they realized Justin would need steel-toed boots for the new position, his advisor connected him to Career TEAM, another partner in WorkSource Pierce network, that provided additional support to obtain the new work boots.

Justin was so grateful; he visited the center a week later to thank Luis and the other WorkSource Pierce partners who helped guide him to his new job and prepare for his first day at work.
