First CNA Training Cohort Wrapping Up

August 30, 2022

WorkForce Central’s first Industry Training Cohort in the Introduction to Healthcare Employment and Apprenticeship Program is wrapping up with two participants ready to take their state certification test and four participants finishing up clinicals.

This is the first of many Industry Training Programs happening this year. Participants leave the program with the skills needed to take the state Certified Nursing Assistant certification test.

A second cohort for this program began August 15.

This two-phase employment program for eligible job seekers in Pierce County offers paid training while preparing for a living-wage career pathway into the healthcare sector.

The first phase provides education on how to work in the medical industry. The second phase prepares participants for the Nursing Assistant Certification (NA-C or CNA) exam, which opens the door to many opportunities in healthcare.

Classes are taught online with in-person labs, giving the flexibility to learn from wherever there is internet access and also participate in hands-on learning activities.

Waterversity, a water system operator cohort training, is also completed its first cohort in August. Future cohorts may include focusing on manufacturing, as well as IT related trainings.

After completing these industry trainings, the goal of the program is to connect participants to that industry-specific employment.
