Lumpia Love

Lumpia Love owner Lynette Boado said utilizing Hire Pierce County: Next Gen was beneficial in many ways. The interns were able to assist her in business as she dealt with chronic hand pain.

“It has been such a great opportunity to participate in the HPC: Next Gen Internship program,” she said. “The financial savings by having a team of interns is a blessing. When the cost of doing business is skyrocketing, having a hand up by using interns has been very valuable.”

Boado said she wanted to participate in the program because of her previous experience working with young adults.

“Providing youth with skills and opportunities that will allow them to improve their knowledge and financial situation is inspiring,” she said. “My business is growing, and I will have ongoing opportunities to progress with it.”

Boado said she was able to have her young adult interns assist with daily tasks and that it was very helpful as she’s been suffering from ailments related to her hands. She said she was also able to teach them many skills and cross-train them in doing business.

“I also had the pleasure of working with Joelle DelaCruz (from Goodwill),” Boado said. “She was very responsive to my questions and constantly in contact with the interns and myself, checking in to make sure everyone was on track and getting the most out of the opportunity.”
