Weekly online job postings continue to improve, reaching 15,793 in the first week of January, up from 12,374 last year, but still below a pre-pandemic high of 18,671.
Industry Employment
Across all industries* Pierce County is still missing nearly 10K workers relative to the first quarter of 2020. Looking at year-over differences between 2019 to 2020 we saw significant losses in Accommodation and Food Services (-5,314), Educational Services (-2,307) and Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation employments (-1,872). Some of these losses were ameliorated in the first half of 2021, others have seen further declines.
