Blue Skye Farm

Hire Pierce County: Next Gen is pairing young adults, ages 16-24, with businesses throughout Pierce County in various paid internship roles. The program provides valuable work experience and training to young adults while also helping businesses meet staffing needs.

Blue Skye Farm has joined the program with four open internship positions through its Wolf Camp & School of Natural Science. The farm, located in Puyallup, produces berries, fruits, nuts, vegetables, and eggs with the goal of sustainable living and helping to support community health and enhancing wildlands through wetland and forest gardening practices. Internship positions available include: two business development-related openings as well as two farming and natural science-related openings.

Business Management Intern

Duration: January – June 2022

Description: Interns will perform a variety of tasks relating to the development of small-scale farming and outdoor recreation businesses. Skills will include website development, blog posting, social media outreach, local business networking, event facilitation, database management, and making products and services accessible to all demographics. This position helps to extend the resources in the farm and outdoor school to better assist and direct the needs of our students and community.

Duration: February – April 2022

Description: Interns will perform a variety of tasks relating to sustainable farming and natural science education. This will include practical, hands-on skills such as organic gardening, fruit tree pruning and wetland enhancement, plus structural maintenance training for equipment repair, woodworking, drywalling, masonry and cement work, etc. as assigned by the designated supervisor. This position helps to extend the resources in the farm and outdoor school to better assist and direct the needs of our students and community.
