Machine Shop Using Upskill/Reskill Fund For Specialized Training

December 1, 2022

A machine shop in Fife is utilizing the Employer Upskill/Reskill Fund to train more employees on specialized drilling equipment.

Currently, only a couple of employees at Tech-Marine Enterprises, which specializes in metal cutting, CNC milling, turning, deep hole drilling, and honing, are trained on the specialized equipment that does deep hole drilling. Tech-Marine will use the Upskill/Reskill Fund to bring in an Instructor from the East Coast, as there are no instructors for the specialized equipment on this side of the United States, said Workplace Training Manager Annikka Trabucco.

Having additional employees trained will bring in a new revenue stream for the company, which also helps the company retain employees.

This specialized equipment is not something every machine shop has the capacity for and thus will provide valuable service to Tech-Marine’s clients.

Working with Tech-Marine also has a bonus for WorkForce Central, Trabucco said. Because they have other businesses as clients, they will see the training opportunities we can provide.

Tech-Marine will also utilize the fund for training on computer software so they can better utilize some of the programs they have in the office.
