Career TEAM Selected as Young Adult Service Provider in Pierce County

Tacoma, WA: WorkForce Central is pleased to announce that Career TEAM was selected as a core young adult provider to deliver Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services in Pierce County. This award comes as a result of a recent Request for Proposals seeking organizations supporting young adults ages 16-24 in pursuing their education, training, and career opportunities across the region.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is a federal investment that supports individuals through all aspects of their workforce development journeys, including education, training, and a myriad of additional supportive services. It generates resources and creates opportunities for those who are beginning their careers, find themselves out of the workforce, or who may be underemployed to access support in pursuit of quality, living wage jobs.

Through the WorkSource Pierce network, Career TEAM will support young adults as they prepare to secure and retain quality jobs. While doing this, Career TEAM’s goals include:

Ensuring equitable outreach, services, and positive employment and education outcomes for young adults who are furthest from opportunities and who experience systemic barriers to employment.

Collaborating and aligning efforts with WorkSource Pierce partners and community-based service providers.

Increasing the use of innovative, high-impact strategies and programs that connect young adults to wraparound support, training, education, and mentorship opportunities.

“We are thrilled to maintain our partnership with Career TEAM and further strengthen the services and opportunities available to young adults entering the workforce in Pierce County,” said Katie Condit, CEO of WorkForce Central.

WorkForce Central received proposals from eight organizations during the RFP process. Many offered creative and innovative approaches to removing barriers to quality training and jobs for young people, and WorkForce Central looks forward to exploring potential partnerships with each of these organizations.
